Earn Your AKC Novice Trick Dog Title for FREE!
Make the most of your time at home during this Covid-19 lockdown. Nothing is more rewarding than teaching your dog Tricks! Tricks helps build your relationship with your dog while improving your timing and training skills.
The AKC has started virtual Tricks evaluations! For the Novice Trick Dog Title you will need to perform and video ten (10) tricks from the AKC Tricks Checklist OR only five (5) tricks from the Tricks Checklist if your dog already has a CGC on file at the AKC.
The internet is full of training videos and examples of how to train various tricks. My favorite resource is "The Big Book of Tricks" shown below. It provides step by step instructions and lots of full-color pictures for Tricks of all sorts - not just Novice level. A link provided through AKC is also included on the bottom of this page with video training for five different Novice tricks.
Record your videos and send them to Linda Kender at mangomaddy@aol.com. The videos do not have to be perfect. Videos can be recorded via a tablet, phone or camera. You do not have to submit the videos all at one time. They can be submitted as you go along.
This AKC Novice Trick Dog evaluation is FREE for JTDC members and includes an AKC Novice Trick Dog Ribbon and the signed Evaluator Video Verification Form you will need to submit to AKC along with $25 if you want your title recorded.

*** Note: At this time only the AKC Trick Dog Novice Title is being offered. For those of you who already hold the AKC Novice Trick Dog Title and would like to earn more advanced titles, JTDC may offer other levels with either in-person classes (when appropriate) or via video submittals in the near future with regular Club training fees.
