Looking to take your dog’s training to the next level? Our specialized dog training classes for Breed Show, Rally, Obedience, Scent Work, and Agility are designed to help handlers and dogs excel in both competition and real-life skills. Whether you’re preparing your purebred for the show ring, aiming for precision in Rally and Obedience, unlocking your dog’s natural talent in Scent Work, or building speed and confidence on the Agility course, our expert trainers use proven techniques to bring out the best in every dog. With a focus on positive reinforcement, confidence-building, and competition-ready training, we provide the foundation your dog needs to shine in every discipline.

Classes are FREE for CCI or other recognized service dog organizations.
Registration
Registering for a class does not guarantee there is a spot available. You will be informed if you have been put on a waitlist. The online Registration Form to must be completed to confirm registration. If you are unsure that a class is the right class for you and your dog, please contact the Training Director BEFORE signing up via the Registration Form. In the event that a refund is requested and approved, PayPal processing fees will not be refunded.
Participants should follow their veterinarians' recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. Proof of rabies inoculation may be required.
Conformation
AKC conformation refers to dog shows where purebred dogs are judged based on how closely they conform to their breed's official standard of appearance, including structure, temperament, and movement

Obedience
Basic dog obedience refers to the foundational training and commands that teach a dog how to behave appropriately at home and in public, while strengthening communication and trust between dog and owner.
AKC competitive obedience refers to a sport where dogs and handlers demonstrate their training and teamwork through a series of prescribed exercises. These trials showcase a dog's ability to follow commands and perform tasks accurately and with precision, highlighting their skills as a well-behaved companion.

Novice / Pre Open

Class Starts. Monday January 5, 2026 at 1-2 PM This is a 6 week session. Class limited to 6 students
Class Description: This class is for people interested in continuing past the Novice level in competitive obedience. It will cover sit, down, come, stay and heeling with focus. Handlers should bring a 6’ leash if doing Novice. The people interested in starting Open will need to bring their dumbbell. Broad jump and the retrieve over the high jump will be covered if dogs are ready for it.
Prerequisites. Having earned a CD or working at that level
Instructions. Dogs will warming up and entering and exiting the ring in close proximity. Once in the ring, the dogs will be working off lead. Dogs must be under control off lead. Handlers should bring water, treats or a favorite toy

Competition Obedience Beginner Novice (BN)

The class will not be on consecutive Wednesdays due to scheduling conflicts and holidays. The dates for the class will be – 10/22, 10/29, 11/12, 11/19, 12/3, 12/10
Course Description - The students will be introduced to the five exercises that comprise the Beginner Novice (BN) class of competition obedience. The students will learn the components of proper heeling, become familiar with the rally signs used in the trial environment, and prepare their dogs to become proficient in an extended sit/stay, recalls, and to remain in a sit while being touched by a stranger.
Prerequisites - None
Instructions - Bring high value treats and a 6 ft leash.

Rally
AKC Rally is a dog sport that combines elements of obedience with a fun, informal atmosphere. It involves navigating a course of numbered signs that direct the dog and handler team through various exercises. It emphasizes teamwork and communication between the dog and handler, with the goal of completing the course with accuracy and style.

Rally Intermediate/Advanced II

Course Description: Rally Excellent Courses will be run.
Prerequisites: Rally Excellent I or equivalent knowledge of the Rally Excellent Signs
Instructions: You will be entering and exiting the ring as well as warming up, so please be vigilant at all times. There will be dogs working off lead so your dog should be crated between runs. Please remember to clean up after your dogs at all times.

Fun Agility
Fun agility is a fun way to introduce teams to some of the basics of agility. AKC agility is a dog sport where dogs navigate an obstacle course against the clock. Handlers guide their dogs through a course with tunnels, jumps, weave poles, and other obstacles, aiming for speed and accuracy. It's a popular activity that builds teamwork, fitness, and a strong bond between dog and owner.

Scent Work / Nose Work
Scent Work is a sport where dogs search for target odors, mimicking the work of detection dogs. It's a fun and engaging activity that allows dogs to utilize their natural scenting abilities while strengthening the bond between dog and handler.

This is a 5-week class.limited to 6 students
Course Description: What: Learn more about canine olfactory abilities. Allow the dog to take the lead in solving puzzles using their natural scenting abilities. How: Initially dogs will search independently for food or a toy while handlers focus on their observational skills. Teams will work at their own pace. Handlers will learn from observing all dogs in the class. Exercises will use the environment to provide learning experiences for the dogs. Self reward will usee to build dogs' independent hunting and problem-solving skills. Timing for the introduction to target odor in searches will depend on the level of the dog’s independence and the level of the handler’s observational skills. At any one time, there may be a mix of some dogs searching for primary (food/toys) and some for target odor.
Instructions: In this class dogs work one at a time, so dogs must be able to rest quietly in a crate when not working.
Prerequisite: Ability to rest quietly in a crate when not working.

This is a 5-week class limited to 6 students.

This is a 5-week class. Limited to 6 students
Course Description: Continuing foundation work for dogs early in nose work career. Exercises will focus on strengthening the dog’s odor obedience and the handler’s ability to read the dog. Birch, anise and clove will be used in hides. Searches may include the various odor elements used in competition nose work. Elements emphasized will be adapted to the needs of the class participants, upcoming event opportunities and weather. Hide puzzles will include multiple hides, elevations, thresholds, corners, blocked hides and non-productive areas.
Instructions: In this class dogs work one at a time, so dogs must be able to rest quietly in a crate when not working.
Prerequisite: Basic Nose Work or working at this level.

Nose Work Advanced Skill Development Coming in the Winter

Course Description: Continuing work to strengthen team skills for dogs that are competing in nose work. Teams will be presented with exercises that encourage independence, drive to source and problem-solving. Handler challenge will be to support the dog and to understand the scent picture that the dog is communicating. Birch, anise and clove will be used in hides. Search exercises will be designed to build a foundation for further growth as teams get ready to progress to higher levels.

Cancellation Policy
Because class size is limited and sufficient time is necessary to contact alternate students, class tuition may only be refunded if notice, in writing or by email, is received seven (7) business days prior to the start date of a class by the instructor or Training Director.
Class registration closes 24 hours in advance of the class start date. Classes are subject to cancellation or date changes at the discretion of the Jupiter Tequesta Dog Club (JTDC).
JTDC does not offer partial refunds, transfers of monies from one class to another or private instruction in lieu of group classes. There shall be no refunds for bitches in season.

Payments must be made by Paypal, Zelle or Check before the start of class.
Credit/Debit Payments through Clover are no longer an option.
